The Night of the Stones - oil on canvas and photographs

Hello everyone Hivers and welcome back to my blog. Today I am sharing an oil on canvas depicting an archway at night with stones and saplings emerging from them.

This surrealist landscape was inspired by a lonely night tour inside the old town centre of my Roman city, Terracina.

I stayed hours contemplating the architectural beauty formed by ancient Roman, medieval and Renaissance buildings and the ever-present black cat.

Round arches, barrel vaults, cross vaults, stones of all types and kinds neatly arranged to build multi-storey palaces and amphitheatres.

I leave you with a long series of shots that highlight the greatness and wit of ancient peoples in building indestructible architectural elements.

La notte delle pietre - olio su tela e fotografie

Ciao a tutti cari amici Hivers e bentornati sul mio blog. Oggi condivido un olio su tela che rappresenta un arco in notturna con pietre e degli alberelli che escono da esse. Questo paesaggio surrealista mi è stato ispirato da un solitario giro notturno dentro l'antico centro storico della mia città di origine romana, Terracina. Sono rimasto ore a contemplare le bellezze architettoniche formate da antichi edifici romani, medievali e rinascimentali e l'immancabile gatto nero. Archi a tutto sesto, volte a botte, volte a crociera, pietre di ogni tipo e genere ordinatamente predisposte per costruire palazzi di molti piani. Vi lascio una lunga serie di scatti che mettono in evidenza la grandezza e l'arguzia dei popoli antichi nel costruire elementi architettonici indistruttibili.
