It happened yesterday. I mean, there wasn't much happening but I happened to take a few photographs along the way, so I'm about to create a post celebrating yet another ordinary day in my fairly mundane life.
I had to do some stuff in Labin, a small town near the Eastern coast of Istra, about fifty kilometers from where I live.
You can see the tower of the Labin's Church of Our Lady of Fatima. The thing was built in 1942, in the industrial part of town dedicated to the nearby coal mines.
I spent less than half an hour in Labin and took only a couple of photographs there.
For the most part, this post will be about things I saw along the road that led me to Labin and then back home.
Here, or in the above photograph - more precisely, you can see Pichan, another small town, a much smaller one than Labin.
I passed Pichan by on this occasion ...
... and took only a few photographs from the road.
Pichan is situated on the top of a hill, about 15 kilometers north of Labin.
I zoomed in a bit more on the iconic church tower in this photograph. The 48-meter-tall tower, built in 1872, belongs to The Parish Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. All these, slightly redundant roadside portraits of Pichan were taken around noon, on my way back home.
While driving through the same area earlier in the morning ...
... I stopped by the side of the road on another hill ...
... mainly to watch the fog in the valley below.
The zooming capability of my versatile Canon PowerShot SX60 HS camera allowed me to capture some cool details ...
... hidden in the surreal distant landscape.
There is a factory in the midlle of the valley.
Its tall chimney was covered by a dense layer of beautiful white fog, so the stuff coming out of that chimney looked like some natural phenomenon ...
... almost like a geyser of sorts.
After watching the fog for quite a while ...
... I decided to take a walk around the hill.
Here you can see some lovely daffodils along the narrow country lane.
Cornel shrubs (Cornus mas) were also in bloom.
You can see clusters of their tiny flowers in this and the previous photograph. By following the road shown in the following photograph ...
... I soon reached ...
... a small bridge on the crossroad.
A creek was running under the bridge ...
... and it was running pretty fast ...
... creating waterfalls along the way.
I visited the area around Pichan many times but never noticed this creek before.
The water is fast and loud now at the end of winter but things get dry and quiet during the summer when I'm usually more active around this area. Meanwhile ...
... Jesus was doing his usual stuff in his usual dramatic pose ...
... inside a small roadside chapel made of ancient, lichen-covered stones ...
... right there on the crossroad.
At some point, while preparing the post, I felt the urge to play a bit in Photoshop. Here you can see the result. In the following photograph ...
... you can see more fog and the tops of the trees peeking out from that mysterious milky sea.
Powerline towers looked a bit alien to me. Like some kind of robot - machines from the old SyFy movies. After taking the above photograph ...
... I sat in the car and drove away.
I took many photographs yesterday while driving, and then ...
... today ...
... I selected a few of them for this post.
At some point ...
... near Labin ...
... I entered the valley.
The fog was slowly disappearing...
... but the scenery still looked quite mysterious and therefore pretty photogenic ...
... so I parked my car by the side of the road ...
... and got myself ready ...
... to shoot all kinds of vehicles that were passing me by. In the following photograph ...
... you can see a friend that was there with me standing in the midlle of the narrow road that leads deeper into the misty woods.
The same place looked surprisingly different when she left.
It was time to reach Labin ... finally.
I met some people there ... took a few photographs ...
... and that's it. Nothing interesting happened, really. Nothing worth mentioning.
On the way back home ...
... I stopped by the side of the road a few times ...
... to photograph the traffic ...
... and this neat line of midday fog ...
... situated between the humid ground ...
... and the clear blue sky.
The ordinary powerline towers quite surprisingly once again caught my attention...
... so I felt inspired to create this electrifying portrait.
Cars were constantly passing by ...
... as I was getting ready to drive away.
AND THAT'S IT. THE POST ENDS HERE. THERE'S NOTHING ELSE I COULD SAY OR SHOW TODAY. AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK - THE END.
