In case you haven't noticed, there have been a lot of word clouds floating around HIVE lately. It's all part of the new HIVE Analytics that has been developing. If you don't know what a word cloud is, according to Google, it's:
"a visual data representation that displays words from a text or collection of texts in varying sizes and colors, with more frequently used words appearing larger and more prominent.
There was a time when word clouds were really popular in the education space, but I don't see them as much as I used to anymore. Like many other sectors, we seem to have jumped on the AI bandwagon now.
Anyway, this tool is part of a larger group of tools that Marky put together and wrote a proposal for. If you have voted for it, I encourage you to go over and do that. There are a ton of great tools in his web-suite.
I actually think it's pretty funny that this word cloud tool has gotten so much attention. It's probably driving the haters crazy and for whatever fabricated reason, Marky definitely has a lot of those.
For a long time, I've had an entry in my Google Keep notes reminding myself that I needed to write a post about the word "though". It's a word I have found myself using quite a bit in my writing over the years. It's often used at the end of a sentence right before a period with the implication of "despite the fact". I don't know why this word has become so prominent my writing, but it is something I have been consciously aware of for quite some time now.
Oddly enough, I noticed the other day that was highlighting the fact that he apparently uses "however" excessively based on his word cloud, and by some coincidence, "though" is listed as a similar word to "however", so I guess I am not it too bad of company.
However (see what I did there), as you can see from the word cloud that was generated based on all of my posts for the past eight years that I have been on the blockchain, "though" doesn't even make the list. Unless I'm just missing it, but I have scanned this thing at least two or three times now and I am just not seeing it.
I think it's funny that Leo Finance is showing up so big. I guess there was a time I was pretty involved over there, I also think it used to be in the signature line that I put on every post, so that could be part of it as well.
It might be cool if Marky could add the ability to filter out specific words. I know that was hoping to filter out the term "Splinterlands" from his word cloud, I don't know where that ever ended up though.
Haha, there I go again!
I'm not going to fully deconstruct my word cloud, but I am going to key in on a few specific words that pop out at me. The first being "pretty". It's quite large, and it surprised me a bit to find it so prominent in the word cloud. I'm pretty sure I am using it like I did to start this sentence and not to indicate that something is actually "pretty". I never would have guessed I use it quite that much though (it's a habit, sue me).
"Awesome" on the other hand doesn't surprise me that much. I remember a couple of years ago I was at a store buying something with one of my nieces and the cashier asked me if I wanted something in a bag or something like that. I think I replied with "yeah, that would be awesome", and my niece was laughing as we made our way out of the store. I asked her why she was laughing and she said "because no one says awesome anymore". Apparently, I do, and I do it a lot. Sorry hon!
I'm guessing "posted" shows up so large because most of my post probably say "posted using peakd, ecency, or leofinance" on them. Like I said, it would be cool if we could filter stuff out of the processing on the front end.
Finally, I love the fact that "interesting" is one of the bigger words in my word cloud. That tells me that I am looking, finding, and discovering things in the world around me. The fact that I am noticing things about live and choosing to share them here on HIVE is a wonderful reminder (for me) that life is meant to be lived. Even the random run of the mill moments in your week. I want to keep absorbing it all and never stop finding those interesting things that make life so "awesome".
