It's been a pretty crazy week here in Bozz land. Crypto is busy doing crypto things while the traditional markets seem to be recovering. Is it possible we are seeing a decoupling again between crypto and those old fashioned investments?
As I said, it's been a crazy week, we had a ice day in the school district this week and instead of driving in I decided to work from home. I actually ended up being a bit more productive than I thought I would be.
I've actually got quite a bit of stuff to cover today, so I am going to get right to it!
It is time again for another Finance Friday/Friday Finance. This is a series I started where I talk about random bits of financial stuff that I have seen, gathered, or experienced during the week. I hope as a reader you find it informational, entertaining, or both. I also hope it can generate some good discussion and edify the community.
Bitcoin
Bitcoin has seen a bit of a wild ride lately. It appears to be back up now, but when it dropped below $39,000 there for a while I couldn't help but think of this song:
Treadmill
The treadmill I finally got around to ordering after weeks of analysis and second guessing myself was supposed to be delivered yesterday. Unfortunately, due to the weather, I now have to wait until Monday for it to show up. Given the fact that I have to assemble it as well, I am guessing it won't be until next weekend that I actually get to use it.
Jovi
Our dog Jovi has been going through a bit of a rough patch lately. She is 14 years old, and somewhere she picked up a urinary tract infection. She is on her fourth round of antibiotics and we are at the point where the vet wants us to take her to a specialist for an ultrasound.
That's why I included a photo of her at the top of this post. Her energy is still high and she still has a healthy appetite, so at the beginning of February we are going to drive her down to Flint, MI to get checked out. The cost is steep, but she is more than worth it.
This will at least answer some of our questions and give our local vet a plan of care based on what we want for Jovi. I have a feeling we have some big decisions ahead of us.
Congratulations, you've been scammed!
I was scrolling through my news feeds the other night and I kept seeing the same token being mentioned over and over again. I had never heard of it before, so I decided I would check it out. That lead me to Retik Finance. Sadly, I didn't follow the second (is it the second?) rule of crypto which says "Do your own research" and I stupidly bought some of the token from my MetaMask wallet.
It wasn't until after the transaction was finished that I decided I should learn more about this token. My funds are secure in my wallet, I didn't get scammed that way, but it looks like I should have dug a little more into this token. Consensus seems to be that the "team" is basically non existent and this is setting up to be a good old rug pull.
It appears the "news stories" I saw were really nothing more than paid advertisements and the token itself isn't getting a lot of love from crypto enthusiasts. I'm sure I am not the only one who has bought this token, so my only hope is that I can get out quickly enough to at least get some of my money back.
Ultimately, I could be out about $350 USD worth of ETH. Not a huge deal, I can make that back in three months on Hive, but still. I should have known better. Have you heard of the Retik token? I'm curious if anyone else was targeted.
Custom Poured Bullion
I was looking around the KZoo Bullion site the other day and I noticed that they are now offering hand poured silver pieces from this guy that is kind of local to where I live.
Their name is Bay City Bullion and some of the stuff they are offering is pretty cool. I don't know how their prices compare, but I know some people in the #silvergoldstacker group does their own hand pouring and I am curious to hear what you think of the quality.
Of course I know it is probably hard to tell from looking at pictures, but I thought it was interesting enough to share with all of you. The fact that KZoo is endorsing them makes me think they must be legitimate.
At the very least you can look at the pretty pictures!
Witness Votes
As always, I encourage you to keep track of your witness votes and make sure you are supporting people who are actually giving back to the blockchain whether it be via development, initiatives, or just their presence.
is someone who definitely deserves your witness vote. If you haven't clicked the check box next to his name, you definitely should!
DBOND
The DBOND token that was started by and
is going to be releasing its last batch for sale this weekend. If you aren't a holder of the CLUB token, you are probably going to have to wait a bit longer though.
One of the benefits of the CLUB token was to give us early access to sales of DBOND and other affiliated tokens. I haven't seen an official announcement yet, but I expect one to be coming out soon.
The good news is, even if you don't own a CLUB token, there will still probably be plenty left for you when the general sale starts. Hopefully...
That's all I've got for this week. Check back next week for more finance news!
