"Shimmering Corals"
Acrylics and Epoxy Resin on Canvas, 60cm x 60cm (24" x 24")
Hello friends, and a happy new year to all of you! It's been a while since I made a post, and today, we start off the new year with a very effectful painting. "Shimmering Corals" is an abstract composition for which I mixed a number of special acrylic paints with diamond dust to create radiance, luminescense, and bursts of light depending on ambient light and the viewer's movements!
I finished the painting with a 2mm coating of high gloss epoxy resin. All this trickery gives the painting a unique, almost animated 3D-ish appearance. Neither photo nor video can do the painting justice, but if you watch my short video you can at least get an idea of this image's unique effects.
Hallo Freunde, und ein frohes neues Jahr für euch alle! Es ist schon eine Weile her, dass ich einen Beitrag geschrieben habe, und heute beginnen wir das neue Jahr mit einem sehr effektvollen Gemälde. "Shimmering Corals" ist eine abstrakte Komposition, für die ich eine Reihe spezieller Acrylfarben mit Diamantstaub angemischt habe, um je nach Umgebungslicht und den Bewegungen des Betrachters Schimmer, Lumineszenz und kleine Lichtblitze zu erzeugen!
Ich habe das Gemälde mit einer 2 mm dicken Schicht aus hochglänzendem Epoxidharz überzogen. All diese Tricks verleihen dem Gemälde ein einzigartiges, fast animiertes 3D-ähnliches Aussehen. Weder Foto noch Video werden dem Gemälde gerecht, aber wenn ihr euch mein kurzes Video anseht, könnt ihr zumindest einen Eindruck von den einzigartigen Effekten dieses Bildes bekommen.
[ Watch the corals shimmer and glisten on carolinepurcell.com! ]It may surprise you to learn that this image wasn't painted with brushes at all: To create the flowery coral shapes, I dunked 90' of chains (cheap China fashion necklace stock) in the paints, arranged the dripping mess on the canvas, and pulled the chains into the disired shapes.
Es wird euch überraschen, dass dieses Bild überhaupt nicht mit Pinseln gemalt wurde: Um die blumigen Korallen-artigen Formen zu schaffen, tunkte ich 30m Ketten (billiger China-Modeschmuck am laufenden Meter) in die Farben, ordnete das tropfende Chaos auf der Leinwand an und zog die Ketten in die jeweils gewünschten Formen.
