This incident happened to me today (oh, Monday-Monday!), it caused a lot of annoyance at first, but it ended up being a happy ending.
The sinister history to this was that I spent half an hour in the morning looking through a pile of socks without a pair to find two that looked somewhat similar and didn't have holes. I've long since stopped caring that I'm wearing different socks (you can't see them in boots anyway), but it's annoying and time consuming anyway.
Hey, you thieving little house elf! I wish I could catch your collar!
(This is Dobby from Harry Potter. I've found its source here: https://tizdolog.hu/2014/07/22/10-jel-hogy-harry-potter-manias-vagy/)
When I got home from my daily workout, I did a little cleaning and tidied up my painting kit. But I noticed that my pan of pink watercolor paint was missing.
If something really annoys me, it's when I can't find something. Then the object immediately becomes indispensable. I bought the pink one recently, and the last time I used it was 2 days ago, when I painted a beautiful rose.
I went into search mode, combing every square inch of my desk and its surroundings. I also emptied the contents of my boxes several times, but to no avail. The pink was nowhere to be found. And yet, in my mind's eye, I could see what a beautiful little pan it was that I had unwrapped. I checked everything, over and over again, just in case that shameful elf would smuggle back the stolen paint.
"Oh, nooo! Where the hell did it go?! Until I have it, how can I work? And if it never turns up?"
I was thinking these things while my mind was going in the same circles. I know it's very bad, I need to calm down and not take it so tragically, it's just a little thing.
I started opening my boxes one by one, and in one of them I found a tube of paint in a beautiful pink color. How many times had I looked at it before, but now I not only looked, I saw it! Yes, that's it! Not in a pan, but in a tube, 2 times the amount.
I burst out laughing loudly! I was very relieved.
What is the lesson? Know exactly what you want to look for! What you don't have, don't look for!
And to make the end the most beautiful: here is my rose! Petal colors: pink, Indian yellow and crape varnish.
