"See Naples and die"
I've always loved the way Naples changes under my eyes and yet remains the same colorful and messy city, even after years. I want to start the new year by sharing with the Hive community a series of pictures I took when I last went to Naples, October 15-16 2022.
That time I truly wanted to go and take a full weekend off, just wandering around the beauty of the streets, the smells of the restaurants and bars, enjoying the warm sun of October in this wonderful city. That was a solo trip which I really need to do in that period of my life.
When you walk around the city center, there's typically one aspect that strikes you, which is the harsh contrast between the sacred and profane... now I'll tell you what I mean by this.
Icons of saints, graffiti, and symbols of traditional superstitions are all mixed together in the messy colored streets of Naples, where walls, corners and signs are not simply what your eyes can see, but they represent a further and deeper range of significances.
If you go to Naples you can't but eat! Smells are everywhere as much as iconic objects and symbols resembling the Napoletana attitude, where religious beliefs and traditional superstition get melted into a wonderful way of conceiving life. "You see Naples and die" is precisely the motto which tells you everything you need to understand about Naples: sometimes too difficult to explain in words, you MUST go and see!
"The first three jobs on Earth: Casanova, Whore and Baker!
...I remember I enjoyed getting lost in the streets where cloths hung over the windows, make the sight to the sky fully colored! Make sure you shut down your phone, especially the maps, because there is no direction told for the tourist who wants to get hit by surprise!
Between a drwaing of Pulcinella drawing and a graffiti of Maradona, your eyes start to be overwhelmed by so different stimuli, and yet you haven't even started to visit the real Naples!
MEMENTO VIVI
Naples has got this of good: it definitely reminds you to stay alive, to breath deeply and taste every little bit of life, no matter how tough, cruel or painful that is: it will always be worthy all the way!

"Vedi Napoli e muori"
Ho sempre amato il modo in cui Napoli cambia sotto i miei occhi eppure rimane la stessa città colorata e disordinata, anche a distanza di anni. Voglio iniziare il nuovo anno condividendo con la community di Hive una serie di foto che ho scattato l'ultima volta che sono stata a Napoli, 15-16 ottobre 2022.
Quella volta volevo davvero andare a farmi un intero fine settimana libera, girovagando per la bellezza delle strade, gli odori dei ristoranti e dei bar, godendomi il caldo sole di ottobre in questa meravigliosa città. È stato un viaggio che ho fatto da sola, una cosa che avevo davvero bisogno di fare in quel periodo della mia vita.
Quando cammini per il centro città, c'è tipicamente un aspetto che ti colpisce, ovvero il contrasto forte tra sacro e profano... ora spiego cosa intendo con questo.
Icone di santi, graffiti e simboli delle tradizionali superstizioni si mescolano tra loro nelle strade colorate e disordinate di Napoli, dove muri, angoli e insegne non sono semplicemente ciò che i tuoi occhi possono vedere, ma rappresentano un'ulteriore e più profonda gamma di significati.
Se vai a Napoli non puoi che mangiare! Gli odori sono ovunque così come gli oggetti iconici e i simboli che ricordano l'attitudine napoletana, dove credenze religiose e superstizione tradizionale si fondono in un meraviglioso modo di concepire la vita. "Vedi Napoli e muori" è proprio il motto che ti dice tutto quello che devi capire su Napoli: a volte troppo difficile da spiegare a parole, DEVI andare a vedere!
"I primi tre lavori sulla Terra: il Casanova, la Puttana e il Panettiere!
...ricordo che mi divertivo a perdermi per le strade dove i panni appesi alle finestre rendevano la vista del cielo completamente colorata tra i vicoli del centro! Assicurati di spegnere il telefono, soprattutto le mappe, perché non c'è alcuna direzione indicata per il turista che vuole essere colto di sorpresa!
Tra un disegno di Pulcinella e un graffito di Maradona, i tuoi occhi iniziano ad essere sopraffatti da stimoli così diversi, eppure non hai nemmeno iniziato a visitare la vera Napoli!
MEMENTO VIVI
Napoli ha questo di buono: ti ricorda costantemente di rimanere vivo, di respirare profondamente e assaporare ogni piccola parte della vita, non importa quanto dura, crudele o dolorosa sia: sarà sempre degna di essere vissuta fino in fondo!
Questa prima parte della mia esperienza napoletana è terminata. A presto con pt. 2! Spero che questo post e le mie foto vi siano piaciuti... e spero anche che questo sia stato un buon modo per iniziare il nuovo anno! Buon 2023!
