This↑ was the condition of the Air Conditioning in my bedroom since 2021, I'd removed the grill off the vent to maximize the air flow, but even so, with the main house HVAC set to 72°F, it would be 80°F back here.
I spent nearly $7000 USD in 2021 on that new system, but all this time I've been heating and cooling the front part of the house where THERE WOULD NOT BE ANYONE.
This room was added to the original house in 2005, it has a very high ceiling, compared to the rest of the house.
It came with a working but very noisy Heat Pump unit mounted in the wall, which worked quite well, but I can't sleep with that kind of noise in my room.
SO I decided on a "Ductless Mini Split" system that would heat/cool JUST this room.
The condenser is outside
Of course His Majesty had to get in on the action yesterday. He had a BALL with this installation crew
He finally gave His Approval 😽
So now both my outside units are on the same side, behind a fence (people will steal your outside units if you aren't careful)
↑This was taken just now, so I hope I am done with this part for now.
The system comes with a 10 yr warranty
I spend so much time alone here, when I have workers come in for something, I talk them to death, so yesterday I was talking to one of them down in the driveway, not watching my step, and fell down the 4 steps to the driveway.
↑That↑ was the most immediate result, but I went to the Chiropractor as soon as I got a bandage on it
Because you know... I'm 69 yrs old with questionable spinal conditions, and
I FELL
I'm very sore this morning, but the Show must go on, don'cha know?
This was what I'd been doing prior to getting the new system in 2021, the new system required that I get on my hands and knees and crawl up under the house to change the filter.
Ladies and Germs, that was just not something I could continue to do month after month. Back, hip and knees don't work well at my age.
So now, I've gone back to that system, and since I won't be USING that system nearly as much to heat and cool the front, unoccupied part of the house, the filters should last much longer.
They'd installed some new returns, which was one reason I couldn't use that old "filter-in-the-floor" return system, but now they have fixed me up with the smallest filters I've ever seen
It will take me some time to get used to this and control it properly.
For some reason when I first tried using it last night, I set the temp on the remote to 75°F, but a free standing thermometer said it had gone down to 65.
Now I like it cool in my room at night, but not quite THAT cool, plus so far the fan runs CONSTANTLY.
I'm figuring things out gradually. This morning I tried getting the heat to come on, and I finally did. But I'm used to that wall unit: when you put it on heat or cool, it IMMEDIATELY starts blowing warm or cool air.
This is a unit for the long haul methinks.
