A Golden Moment in the Garden

Today was a very quiet and beautiful day. I was relaxing in my backyard, swinging slowly on my hammock. The large avocado tree above me provided a nice, cool shade. As I swayed, I spotted something bright on the ground. I have a tiny yellow visitor today.
A tiny yellow butterfly was hovering over the concrete path. It looked like a small piece of floating sunshine against the gray ground. It would land for a second and then flap its wings again.
I really wanted to capture its beauty, so I grabbed my camera. I tried to move closer to get a good photo. But every time I took a single step, the little butterfly would get scared and fly away. It was like a game of tag that I could not win π
I eventually stayed very still and used my zoom lens to see it better. Here is what I noticed about my small friend,
First is its bright color. Its wings are very vibrant, sunny yellow. It's so noticeable against the dull gray path.
There were tiny patterns. When it sits still, you can see tiny, faint brown spots on the underside of its wings.
It has dark edges. When it opens its wings to fly, there is a thin black border along the very top edges.
It has very long, delicate antennae and tiny legs that help it balance on the rough rocks.
Even though it was hard to get close, watching the butterfly was the best part of my afternoon. It reminded me to slow down and notice the small things. Sometimes, you just have to sit still and let nature come to you. π¦
