This article may be disruptive for some Malaysian and Beijing citizens but I stumbled on it, did my research and here is what I found.
A flight was scheduled to leave Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia to Beijing on 8th March,2014 and it never did. It had 227 passengers and 12 crew members on board, making a total of 239 people on the flight. It was called the Malaysian airlines flight 370 or MH370.
Once it was suspected that the plane had gone missing, a search party was set out. The search effort stretched out from the Indian ocean west of Australia to Central Asia.
The search party did their job and they found the first debris that could be connected to the flight on 29th July, 2015, a whole year and four months after.
The right wing flaperon was discovered on a beach on the French island of Réunion, about 3,700 km (2,300 miles) west of the Indian Ocean area that was being searched by Australian authorities. Over the next year and a half, 26 more pieces of debris were found on the shores of Tanzania, Mozambique, South Africa, Madagascar, and Mauritius
Judging from the reports that the search party gave, the debris of the flight was scattered all around. They perceived that some of the debris would have drifted from the Indian Ocean to Africa. That statement could also be classified as an offensive statement to the Africans. It could be interpreted as 'Africa is the continent for debris and every other dirty thing', that's just my perception too.
Moving on, it was suspected that the flight had taken a wrong path during the journey. A close look at the picture below would give a better understanding.
The flight started off in the right direction and then it changed path abruptly. What could be the reason behind the change of path? Was the pilot trying to avoid an unforeseen circumstance? We can never tell.
The government of Malaysia, Australia and China called off the search for MH370 in January, 2017. In July, 2018, the Malaysian government issued its final report on flight 370's disappearance. Mechanical malfunction and change in flight's path could be the cause but the investigators could not determine why MH370 disappeared. It is still an unsolved mystery.
We all were probably going about our 2014 like ever normal year without knowing about the disappearance of MH370, well now you know .
