Holy Week is a time when a reflective spirit, harmony and love for others should prevail. Beyond our religious beliefs, I am convinced that the energy and the message spread during these days is strong enough to drive us to build a better world, but this is a change that we must begin to give from our own individuality, to be able to add actions whose result is the construction of a more humane, sensitive and loving environment.

El Nazareno de San Pablo
La Semana Santa es un tiempo en donde debería prevalecer un espíritu reflexivo, la armonía y el amor por el prójimo. Más allá de nuestras creencias religiosas, estoy convencido de que la energía y el mensaje difundido en estos días es lo suficientemente fuerte como para impulsarnos a construir un mundo mejor, pero este es un cambio que debemos empezar a dar desde nuestra propia individualidad, para esta forma poder sumar acciones cuyo resultado sea la construcción de un entorno más humano, sensible y amoroso.
There have been very few Holy Week that I have lived out of my hometown and this time I decided to know one of the most important religious manifestations of the Venezuelan capital, this is the procession of Holy Wednesday in honor of the Nazarene of San Pablo, a figure carved in wood dating from the seventeenth century and whose intersection is attributed numerous miracles and favors conceived. For this reason, thousands of faithful overflow the streets every Wednesday of Holy Week to accompany him in a journey of approximately 4 hours, where they seek to have a penitent attitude and remember those facts written by the Bible.
Han sido muy pocas la Semana Santa que he vivido fuera de mi ciudad natal y en esta oportunidad decidí conocer una de las manifestaciones religiosas más importantes de la capital venezolana, se trata de la procesión del Miércoles Santo en honor al Nazareno de San Pablo, una figura tallada en madera datada del siglo XVII y a cuya intersección se le atribuyen numerosos milagros y favores concebidos. Por esta razón, miles de fieles desbordan las calles cada miércoles de Semana Santa para acompañarlo en un recorrido de aproximadamente 4 horas, en donde se busca tener una actitud penitente y recordar aquellos hechos de escritos por la Biblia.
Durante la procesión se recuerda aquella ruta tomada por Jesucristo en su camino hacia el Gólgota, una travesía en donde se evidencia la crueldad de la humanidad, pero en donde al mismo tiempo podemos reconocer que en el interior de todos también existe un espíritu resiliente, abnegado y humilde, el cual es capaz de soportar los embates de la vida para enseñarle al mundo la grandeza del amor, la comprensión y el perdón.
Undoubtedly, this is a procession that paralyzes the entire center of the city of Caracas, but it is especially an ideal occasion to meet with tens of thousands of people, who are grouped by a common feeling: gratitude, love and hope. Many come to pay promises, but others take each step with the faith that their problems will have a prompt and satisfactory resolution.
Sin duda alguna, esta es una procesión que paraliza a todo el centro de la ciudad de Caracas, pero en especial es una ocasión ideal encontrarnos con decenas de miles de personas, que se encuentran agrupadas por un sentimiento común: el agradecimiento, el amor y la esperanza. Muchos vienen a pagar promesas, pero otros dan cada paso con la fe puesta en que sus problemas tendrán una pronta y satisfactoria resolución.
Thousands of orchids donated by the citizens adorn an image that has resisted the passage of time, where governments have come and gone, where the nation has had successes and failures, many generations have had the opportunity to observe a tired Christ carrying his heavy cross, but for centuries this has continued forward in a seemingly endless march and therefore, has become an undisputed icon of a society that is always thirsty for hope and redemption.
Miles de orquídeas donadas por los ciudadanos adornan una imagen que ha resistido al paso del tiempo, en donde gobiernos han llegado y se han ido, en donde la nación ha tenido éxitos y fracasos, muchas generaciones han tenido la oportunidad de observar a un Cristo cansado cargar con su pesada cruz, pero durante siglos este seguido adelante en una marcha que pareciera interminable y por lo cual, se ha convertido en un icono indiscutible de una sociedad que siempre está sedienta de esperanza y redención.
Religious manifestations of this type usually unite people divided by political ideologies, social classes or cultural prejudices, in this type of events we are all really brothers, walking under the same spirit and with the same feeling, perhaps each one asking for individual favors, but always with the mind set on collective development and the welfare of our country.
Las manifestaciones religiosas de este tipo suelen unir a pueblos divididos por ideologías políticas, clases sociales o prejuicios culturales, en este tipo de acontecimientos todos somos realmente hermanos, caminando bajo un mismo espíritu y con un mismo sentimiento, tal vez cada quien pidiendo favores individuales, pero siempre con la mente puesta en el desarrollo colectivo y en el bienestar de nuestra patria.
