Friday.
It was a cold but sunny afternoon. came to the village for a visit and we hiked into the forest, all the way out to the sand pit.
We passed that special mossy tree stump, maybe you remember it, too. The tree within a tree.
And a few kilometers later we reached the sand pit. It's a different kind of landscape with a different atmosphere here.
Sandy soil and scarce vegetation. Unfortunately the sun was already dipping below the tree line of the surrounding forest by the time we got here.
I noticed an out of season ladybug crawling around, and a bunch of his friends were also near. I think the sunshine warming up the barren surface must have attracted them to come out again on this late November day.
And because it's Friday, of course, I also made sure to find a pretty mushroom for this post, too.
It must be a russula caerulea mushroom, you can also call it the "humpback brittlegill" and it looks even nicer after cleaning up some of the forest debris in the foreground.
It's a perfectly edible mushroom but due to its bitterness it's probably more of an acquired taste. I wouldn't know, I never actually ate one, I just read that up on the internet.
Thanks for your time!
