Dubai Day 1
What happens when you let AI chat plan your itinerary for you?
Let's see.
My sister is in the UAE for a couple of weeks. And to maximize the days, we are staying here in Dubai for 2 days before we finally head to Abu Dhabi. We had a very vague idea of what we wanted to do, but not the specifics. So this morning while we were having breakfast, I asked Gemini to create an itinerary for us. I specifically mentioned that the places we'd go to should be within proximate distance to the Metro, since I did not want to drive.
The AI suggested we visit Dubai Marina first. We took the Metro and then the tram to move around.
When a city has a well-thought of public transportation plan, going from one place to another is a breeze.
Speaking of breeze, these days, the weather is still fairly pleasant although you could feel it getting warmer by the day.
We got off the train and headed to the tram station. It was honestly my first time to try the tram. I told my sister, I wouldn't have been able to try it if she weren't here.
Because we know knothing of the routes, we took pictures of it so we know how to go around. It was confusing, but by the time we came back from lunch and headed back to the hotel, we kinda were tram experts already. 😂
We alighted atbthe Jumeirah Beach Residences 2 and checked out the beach. Now, my sister wants to come back to swim. Lol.
At this point of our morning escapade, we were already 7k steps in. Too much walking!
Off to the Atlantis, The Palm
My sister was too keen to see The Palm in Jumeirah. To be fair it is really nice, especiallu how they built the whole archipelago to look like a palm leaf from the top view.
Again, we took the tram from the JBR2 going to the Palm Jumeirah station. From there, we had to take the monorail, which was not part of the tram system and cost more.
It was also a first time for me, and I also felt like a tourist! It's different driving these roads than being on a higher perspective from the monorail.
We got a ticket that took us to the very end of the line. Then we headed to check the Atlantis.
Aquaventure would have been nice, but since this was an impromptu trip, we just checked out some parts of the hotel open to the public, then left.
Of course, we wouldn't leave without taking a photo of the hotel from the boardwalk.
We went back to the hotel after taking lunch at the Dubai Marina Mall. And slept. We were sleep deprived and exhausted. No more energy to complete Gemini's recommendations for the day. 🥲
