UAE celebrates its 54th National Day 🇦🇪
Today culminates the long weekend in the UAE as the whole nation celebrates the Eid Al Etihad or the UAE National Day. The UAE has been our second home for the past 20 years hence we also went out to celebrate with the rest of the residents.
There were fireworks and airshow yesterday and today. Unfortunately, we went out late today and only caught a glimpse of the airshow while on our way to the Corniche (one of the centers of today's festivities).
We settled ourselves in the Formal Park -- miraculously finding a parking immediately --and just stayed there, watching the other families also spending the holidays.
This park has several barbecue areas, playgrounds, and lots of green spaces to just sit and relax. My family spent a lot of time in this maze. The kids and I had been here before, while it was hubs' first time.
It was amusing to see lots of people settled in the park and also a stream of people walking about near the main road. They were heading over to the other side of the Corniche. It was non-stop. Traffic was even crazier. Cars honking, people merrily spraying silly strings and what not.
There was a fireworks display scheduled at 9:00pm and we were unsure if we would stay and wait for it. The kids wanted to, while I was unsure of going back to the road because of the heavy traffic. So we ended up staying and seeing the fireworks display albeit a bit far and obstructed.
Thankfully, we were able to get out of the park and get home with minimal delay. I was expecting the worst, but yeah. Everything ended well.
Tomorrow, we get back to our old routines. I am also going back to work after a week of rest-- can't wait for the weekend! aaaccckkkk!!!
