Today’s walk was a gentle rebellion against the grind, a pause button in white.
With nearly 10 cm of fresh snow blanketing the world outside, I took my usual lunch walk but dialed it way down. Not the usual 5-6km, but that wasn’t the point today. Every step crunched, every breath misted, and every scene begged for a photo. And so, the walk became less about fitness and more about framing.
The canal was a glassy contrast to the snow-lined banks, trees stood skeletal and stoic, and even the ducks looked mildly annoyed by the frozen puddles. The little village church in the first shot? It felt like something straight out of a postcard. If that steeple had chimed while I passed, I’d have believed time actually froze.
What struck me most was how slowing down made space, not just physically, but mentally. With no pressure to hit a distance goal, I just wandered, noticed, captured. There’s something pretty liberating in that. The snow may have shortened the route, but it deepened the experience.
