Czas na krótki city break w Dublinie. Ostatnio coraz bardziej ciągnie nas na Wyspy: dwa lata temu była Szkocja, rok temu – powrót do Londynu, a w tym roku wiecznie zielona Irlandia i Dublin. Dziś starczyło czasu jedynie na szybki wypad na miasto po zameldowaniu się w hotelu. Oczywiście nie mogło obyć się bez fish & chips oraz kufla dobrze schłodzonego irlandzkiego piwa. Nie był to wprawdzie Guinness, ale wszystkie znaki na niebie i ziemi wskazują, że jutro będę miał przyjemność skosztować narodowego skarbu Irlandczyków podczas wizyty w browarnym muzeum.
[ENG] Time for a short city break in Dublin. Lately, we’ve been drawn more and more to the British Isles: two years ago it was Scotland, last year a return to London, and this year, the Emerald Isle and Dublin. Today, there was only time for a quick trip into the city after checking into our hotel. Of course, we couldn't skip fish and chips and a pint of well-chilled Irish beer. It wasn't a Guinness just yet, but all signs point to me having the pleasure of tasting the Irish national treasure tomorrow during a visit to the brewery museum.
Z ciekawszych miejsc odwiedziliśmy Katedrę Świętego Patryka i kampus Trinity College. Niestety słynna biblioteka jest w remoncie i nie można jej zwiedzać. Można za to zobaczyć inną ikonę Dublina – The Temple Bar, ale panujący tam zgiełk to zdecydowanie nie na nasze uszy. Wystarczyło nam podziwianie budynku na rogu Temple Lane i Fleet Street z zewnątrz. Cała fasada pokryta jest tysiącami lampek tworzących ciepły, złoty, świetlisty koc. Do tego zwisające kosze z kwiatami, czerwone flagi z charakterystycznym logo, stare latarnie gazowe, napis z dawnych czasów głoszący sprzedaż „Fine smoking tobacco” oraz zegar, który wieńczy to wszystko z dumą angielskiego dżentelmena.
[ENG] Among the more interesting spots, we visited St. Patrick's Cathedral and the Trinity College campus. Unfortunately, the famous library is undergoing renovations and is closed to visitors. On the other hand, you can visit another Dublin icon—The Temple Bar—but the hustle and bustle there is definitely not for our ears. Admiring the building on the corner of Temple Lane and Fleet Street from the outside was enough. The entire facade is covered with thousands of lights, creating a warm, golden, luminous blanket. Add to that the hanging flower baskets, red flags with the distinctive logo, old gas lamps, a vintage sign advertising "Fine smoking tobacco," and a clock crowning it all with the pride of an English gentleman.
Pierwszy dzień w nowym mieście ma swój specyficzny smak: wszystko jest nowe, a każdy zakręt przynosi kolejny obrazek wart zatrzymania. Dublin nie zawodzi – jest hałaśliwy, kolorowy, pełen życia i zaskakująco piękny, kiedy patrzy się na niego uważnie.
[ENG] The first day in a new city has its own specific flavor: everything is fresh, and every turn brings another picture-perfect moment. Dublin does not disappoint—it is noisy, colorful, full of life, and surprisingly beautiful when you look closely.
