Did need to get moving on some gift shopping. So I figured out a 3 for one trip. Shopping mall. Retrieve wine from wine storage. Walk a segment of bush on the way home.
Telling part on way out of shopping centre was driving past Brookvale Community Health Centre with a long queue for Covid testing. Latest cluster is on this side of town after over a month of no cases. 2 became 17 became 28 and spreading.
Got the chores out of the way. First encounter through the bush to get to the walking track. Something had me look right and avoided it
Spotted a flash of purple and a variegated hyacinth orchid - 4 plants in flower here

This piece of bush belongs to Aboriginal Land Council and has some important sites. Really sad to see MTB tracks carved into the heritage areas.
Bonnet orchid found lower down. Sadly only one photo not quite in focus - was hard to get in place to get photo right
These emerging fern leaves were even harder to photograph on a windy day and bright light
Did find a last orchid right where I parked my car. I removed a piece of bark that was pulling the stalk down. That upset the spider but made a bonus for your photographer
I have only walked this segment once in the winter - nice to find orchids this time.
