Woken early as zoo animals and birds greeted a new day. Day started with a short zoo tour - watched the elephants being washed down.
Fascinating watching the keeper tell the 3 ton elephant what to do. Lift left front. Right front. Turn around. Back left. Too bad the light is from behind for a good photo.
Met the white rhino - first one to breed in captivity in Australia
Breakfast in camp before checkout - not often a wagtail poses
We then went into the zoo to do our own tour. This a large scale open plains zoo - drive your own car or walk or ride or rent a cart. First were the eland - largest African antelope.
Drive around has about 30 displays and 5 kms of roadway. There is a game to play - keep an eye out on the feed truck. That got the hippo out of the water to walk around the lake to get to feed point.
That picture got me into mother and child pictures - white rhinoceros
Zebra family time
Feed truck following got us to see the Asian elephants outside their night shed. Spent a good while watching one young bull getting somewhat frisky. He was mounting when the feed truck arrived - end of that game.
Sumatran tiger - not many left in the wild as palm oil planting wipes out their habitat
Meeekats are always fun to watch
Otters rove their enclosure as a group - action shot coming back into the water.
This antelope looks a bit like an impala in colour but without horns - these are all females. They are blabkbuck from India. Male has horns and is a blackish colour
Food truck time and onyx feeding.
We did see quite a few more animals. Next time I will bring a zoom lens to get closer in. Was a great visit on a nice warm day. Bird life is amazing too.
Made our way to Dubbo city to shop. Staying on a farm out of town not far from Macquarie River. Nice cottage. Bbq for dinner and a few glasses of wine.
Trade action: Bought BJK as Jim Cramer had recommended Wynn Resorts.
