Another rainy start - kept the head down putting together a review post on a new product from my friend, Tiffany Lambert. Was after lunch time when it felt clear to go out - walked up to local station with a plan to catch whichever train came first to walk a slice of rain forest
First train was heading toward the city - walk Bluegum Creek down to Chatswood - that is the target after the walk
Lilli pilli fruiting on the way down to the creek
Below the high level pedestrian bridge is this old building - now empty. Placement says it could have been a mill. Somehow doubt there was ever enough water to run a mill
Access path to get down to Blue Gum Creek walk into Lane Cove NP
Drop over these rocks to the creek below - maybe 100 metres down
Tried to get two things in frame - the white flowers with each one a pin prick and the lichen on the rock below
Did find bonnet orchid leaves at the bottom of the rocks - no flower spikes
Made the main track. Sadly overgrown with lantana and privet growing wild
Creek crossing. Not a walk for orchids today - mostly I guess as it is too close to the river and subject to flooding with chemical laden water
Not a lot of flowers out - this one stands out.
Brush turkey nest - one pair - eggs get planted somewhere in the stack to keep warm. No need to sit on eggs. The babies move on pretty quickly to make their own way
Working upstream offers a few good rock faces - no real change in vegetation
A few overhangs to seek shelter - no sign of rock art
Path arrives at 5thChatswood Scouts. Does not look like an alive site given how full the bin was.
Back to Blue Gum Creek - huge fern going in a cleared area with seats to the left
A few grand trees - a contrast photo with an old turnk and the alive one standing a.good 30 metres tall
One leech found on the exit from the bush. No surprise as we have had a lot of rain
Back to the streets to get to Chatswood Station on a different path to the last time - view back to the centre. Did ibe if my last oitches in the building with Access sign on top. The old days of Sun Life
Plenty of old houses here still. This one has the old sandstone footings but had been rendered and painted. Let's go across the street
A blocky architect designed one
An up with dormer windows next door
Found this hospital off the Pacific Highway. Had to look it up. Hirondelle is French for swallow. Hospital is a mental health facility in conjunction Medibank Health - the state health fund
Crossed over to the quiet streets behind the railway line - photo over the retaining wall. One clear thing from the photo - I did not need the umbrella I brought with me
Came into the station through the bus depot - not done that before. They have liend up a few food trucks to offer food right there for bus passengers
Part of the delay this morning was waiting for a parcel delivery - a new cooling fan was one - has a small water reservoir, works off USB charge with its own battery. Will see how well the $129 works out
Spent two hours chopping up the tree that fell over yesterday - filled two green bins and cleared away about two thirds - sorry no photos
Paid the price cooking pasta for dinner with severe cramping in the fingers on both sides. Couldn't bend them at all. They needed a heap of electrolytes
With US markets closed Monday, stayed out of markets apart from a few sold puts in Europe in my managed and personal portfolios
Did get going on a new Facebook content process - here is image created either AI for a new spot on a product promotion. More tomorrow
