Last day of the road trip. Washed the car to get rid of 100 kms of gravel driving the day before
The car aficionados will know this is a pretty special car from the Subaru rally factory. The cable tie repair is holding well
Plan was to walk Dharawal NP in pursuit of midge orchids - a track walked quite a few times
A life skill - telling a 9 from a 4. 4 and no walk allowed. 9 and safe for a few days. It is a 9 - no shots heard
Start up with banksia shots - spiky leaf version
Broad smooth leaf version
Did not take long to find a midge orchid. This one started its journey after the edged were strimmed maybe a week or two ago
Close up of corunastylis fimbriatus
Next flower along - getting ready to close up shop for the season
Pea flower
More corunastylis fimbriatus
Sundew flower
Fringed midge orchid - found 15 or so on the east side of the track. Every one on the west side had seeded
One more shot for the different background - a flat rock rather than a leaf - corunastylis fimbriatus
A splendid banksia flower on the way down to Maddens Falls
NSW coral heath flower - epacris pulchella
Tiny mushroom action in the road way edges
So not like white - try mustard.
New season orchid leaf action - probably a bearded orchid
Flower spike for a horned orchid
Top flower still holding its shape after pollination - orthoceras strictum
Narrow-leafed hemigenia
Found one midge orchid flowering on the return side of the road - west side. Saw the black spots on downloading the photos
Prodded them out - some kind of worm - slug thing
Tiny mushroom in black
Last of the fringed midge orchids for the day
Closer in on corunastylis fimbriatus
A few purple fan flowers about
And a tear-drop flower - a violet for my granddaughter Violette
Drove down to Maddens Falls loop - disappointed to find Darkes Cider is not open on Monday to Wednesday. I do like their beer. Woolsia pungens on the track down tothe water
Reflections in the still water above the falls
Top and bottom captured
Why walk the extra? Had seen a greenhood last season - leaf form first
My recall is this was pterostylis acuminata but the detail does not match - no sharp point and the labellum is green
Back to the guides
Upside down flower from below
Orchids found - two types
Wad good to get home and to cook dinner for my wife - been a good road trip away
Shopped on the way home
