International tourists love seeing kangaroos. They're so iconically Australian.
The thing is, we love seeing them too, even though we've both lived here most of our lives.
But at home in Brisbane we don't have 'roos' (as we call them). We have two different species of wallabies, but they're much smaller and more timid.
These kangaroos, especially the adult males, are BIG.
And we saw more in one spot today than I've ever seen in my forty-something years.
I counted, as best I could, about 95 in one area, then walked a handful of steps and saw another dozen or more, and then across a road there were another handful.
It was wild! Even for me, an Aussie, who has seen her fair share of roos over the years.
Where are we?
Queanbeyan, NSW.
And where were all the roos specifically?
Queanbeyan Golf Course, with all its lovely, tasty, green, green grass 😊
