Badberg hike
The Kaiserstuhl is an old inactive volcano and famous for it's wine.
On almost every point you see vineyards in the landscape. We got there by car parked the car and went up the hill.
In summer it's really hot and dry in this area but yesterday we had a lot of clouds and a bit of a nasty wind.
On the way to the top you have many nice views at the little villages with churches and only a few houses.
Most people are working in the wine business here. We've been lucky at a little shelter they sold some wine for picknick. We couldn't resist and had our first wine before noon. π
But our main goal was to spot some orchids. And we found a few and took some pictures of it.
The whole meadows you see in the pictures are full of orchids and other rare plant species.
We choose a different way back to the car and came across a lot of blossoming apple trees.
I highly recommend to visit the Kaiserstuhl in spring. In this time every thing is in perfect colour and shape.
If you aren't able to be here in spring then come in autumn when the grapes are ready to eat. They are delicious.
