How could I ignore a marvelous sunny day and stay indoors? No way! After a few family duties I set out on my mountain bike for a ride in some beautiful forest and woodland scenery.
Unfortunately, the clouds began to accumulate and block out the sun for a while but it was very warm. I even felt a spot of rain at one point.
The bluebells are magnificent everywhere and the smell was amazing. I think they are at their best now so it's a good time to go out and enjoy them before they begin to fade
My route today took me out through Tilgate Park into the forest, over a railway line up into Old house Warren. A track bisects this woodland and up the steepest part of the route to the road. The ride was a little over 12 miles but feels longer as the gradient changes a lot.
I usually have a rest at the main lake back in Tilgate Park. A good place to take in the peace and quiet for a while. There is a cabin usually selling hot drinks at weekends.
I enjoyed the ride today a lot. I don't seem to get the chance to do this much with a very busy family life but I will be cutting my work hours later this year when I semi-retire so hopefully I can do it more. 😀
