Guildford is a town in southern England with a long hostory. It has a cathedral as well so I assume it can be classed as a city. The cathedral is some distance from the town centre so that could be the subject for another day 😀.
Everywhere you look there is something that looks very old like this stone archway. An impressive piece of architecture that has tested the passage of time.
The main high street has some impressive buildings too. The street descends all the way down to the bridge over the river, which is quite steep for a central thoroughfare. Most of it is now only open to trade vehicles and pedestrians which is good.
Guildford has a big university complex over next to the Hospital with a focus on cancer research. This sculpture celebrates the presence of that great institution.
