Another slow Tuesday as I get ready for the Thanksgiving break here in the USA. Not much activity to report outside of my walk to and from school, and the three flights of stairs to get up to the fourth floor of our school building.
I did go out for a quick walk to the grocery to pick up some odds and ends for the apartment since we were running low on fruit and ran out of bread. Sadly, there were all sold out of sourdough, so we had to settle for a loaf of pumpernickel. I also purchased 3x grapefruit (one of my favorite fruits), a yellow canary melon, 2x fuyu persimmons, a 3 pound bag of gala apples, and 4 cloves of garlic.
Whenever cold and flu season arrives in USA, I always like to have my mother's simple recipe of fermented garlic in honey available. I just chop up a bunch of garlic cloves, cover them in honey, and put it in an air-tight glass container. After a week, the honey starts to loosen up and the garlic flavor becomes more mild and palatable. Best of all, the allicin compound is drawn out of the cloves and into the honey for easy absorption for the body. So many health benefits, I always like to have some on hand!
