Once again, it is midnight on Sunday morning, and I find myself at my favorite dance club in Brooklyn -- Elsewhere. I met my partner and our friend D for a stacked tech-house lineup featuring Omnom and Odd Mob.
The vibes at the club were great, and the DJs played superior sets to dance to. Omnom played until 1 am, Odd Mob played from 1 to 3, and then they went back-to-back for the last hour when the club closes at 4 am. I even snuck upstairs to the loft area and heard another DJ spin some old disco classics + modern remixes of Daft Punk and Britney Spears!
The thumbnail is a picture of the main hall, while the one above is from the more intimate loft area. For some reason, the actifit app doesn't register my activity dancing as well as my mobile's native Samsung Health app, so I didn't break the 5K mark on actifit. In my Samsung app it showed I had 6K steps by 4 am.
Ultimately, it is no big deal, since I find much more benefit from the app to keep me in the habit of contributing daily content to Hive rather than squeezing every last drop of rewards. Plus, if I want an accurate reading of my steps, I can just use the Samsung app anyways. My only regret is not being able to get higher on the overall leaderboard, although I suspect that anyone without a fitbit is also missing steps.
Instead of walking home by all the tasty food trucks, our friend D had driven so I got the treat of a quick 7 minute car ride home rather than a 20 minute walk. See, it is not always about the steps!
We hosted a few more friends at our apartment for two hours, and they finally left when the sun started rising. I stayed awake to watch the English Premier League soccer matches and spent the rest of the day just sleeping and eating leftover lentil soup paired with fresh fruit like canary melon and persimmon. All in all, it was a pretty great Thanksgiving weekend.
Sure, I wish I was feeling a bit better. It is always a bit sad to see my siblings for only a short time before they flew back.to their homes, but I was grateful for the time we shared. Tomorrow it is back to school for my first full week since I took my teaching job. It is exciting to slowly work into my new responsibilities as a classroom teacher. Catch yall tomorrow. Cheers!
