Don't tell Santa, but I've been a naughty boy because I've been slacking on my actifit reports this holiday season. This post will recount my activity for Thursday, December 21, and Friday, December 22.
After a low-key birthday, it was back to class Thursday morning with a hurried walk to school after an issue with my mobile alarm. It was our last full day of school before a half-day to end the calendar year on Friday. I made plans to meet with my mom and her boyfriend for dinner in Manhattan since they wanted to take me out for dinner for my birthday.
I decided on a highly rated place called Thai Diner in the SoHo neighborhood, which is easy for me to get to by subway, no transfers needed, and another opportunity to walk more steps and stairs to my destination!
I got there 20 minutes early and for good reason -- the place was packed! I had to put our name on the list since they don't take reservations. Then I walked a few blocks over to a local pub, The Spring Lounge, I used to go to 20 years ago when I worked for the NBA. It is well known for its relaxed vibes and sharks on the walls.
My mom was 10 minutes late, but everything worked out perfectly because it took them 30 minutes to get our table ready. By the time my mom got there, I walked back over to the restaurant, and we were seated within minutes. Nice timing!
The menu featured Thai dishes influenced by modern American diner flair. I got a delicious spicy chicken liver for an appetizer and a curry lobster omelet for my entree. For dessert, I got a sticky toffee cake with a Thai tea butter cream frosting. It was all so tasty! Have a peek:
I'm glad I made the effort for us to eat here because these were some great Thai dishes that I don't typically see at more traditional Thai restaurants. My mom and her boyfriend both placed it safe with a vegetable soup and stir-fried noodle dishes. My mom graciously offered me a ride home, so l ended the day just over 9K steps.
I hadn't noticed the fun Mario-themed art painted on the side of the store I walk past every day on my way to school, but since I was in a chipper mood I stopped for a quick pic. They also painted Santa and a reindeer!
We had a bunch of fun holiday-themed activities planned for our students today for the last day of our calendar year. The highlight of those activities was cookie decorating, and we have all different colors of icing and sprinkles for the students to decorate with. Here is one of their works of art.
We ended the school day with a school-wide holiday showcase performing by our creative art students. The art students showed off their art projects, the dance students performed a few different routines, and the music students sang a few holiday tunes.
I was pretty tired when I got home from school. I made a big salad, ate some soup, and got a good, long night sleep. All in all, I managed 8.2K steps on Friday before I went to bed before 10 pm. I'll be back soon to recap my activities over the weekend leading up to Christmas. Cheers!
