I started Day 2 of Electric Forest around 10am after being jolted awake by the blazing heat inside our tent. We ran some errands and made to 20 minute trek to the festival entrance for noon yoga. The large communal yoga practice is one of my favorite parts of the festival weekend. It helps me stay loose and mentally connected to the present.
Another meaningful part of our weekend is the yearly humanity circle, where we take the time to get to know new people and connect on a personal level. It is a moving experience to share about yourself with a stranger and let go off weight holding yourself back.
After the humanity circle, my partner went back to camp to get ready for the night. I didn't want to have to double back to camp to "get ready" so I packed to stay in the festival grounds until 3am. I really didn't want to miss the opening bass DJs playing.
And those openers really brought the bass! Three female DJs got the good vibes going: Canabliss, Alleycvt, and Level Up. Then I finally met back up with my people at 7pm to see the man, the myth, the legend -- LUDACRIS!
His set was a blast, just like I remembered it at Lost Lake Festival 2017 in Phoenix, AZ. He came out with some quick hitters, dialed it back to his first album, then dropped his heavy-hitting cameos on pop tracks like Usher's "Yeah" and Fergie's "Fabulous." There was also a Maroon 5 song and a Justin Beiber track that had the crowd screaming along. He closed the set with his verse from "All I Do Is Win" and then went all out on "Get Back."
After Ludacris, there was a bunch of walking to do, and I went to work adding to my 26K step count. Turns out the next four artists we wanted to see were playing on alternating stages on opposite ends of the festival grounds. We went to see full sets from Caspa and Boogie T at Tripolee, the stage by the entrance.
Then we walked across the grounds to the far stage, Sherwood Court, for a special set from Alison Wonderland's alternate persona, Whyte Fang. After that, we traversed back across to Tripolee, making our way through a packed main stage for Pretty Lights.
But we did not stop because Wooli was the bass DJ we all wanted to see. He did not disappoint, playing exactly the heavy set we all wanted to hear! He also was the set DJ to play before midnight, so I'll leave things here and pick things up at midnight of Day 2. Until tomorrow...
