Another school day and nearly another 13K steps. Work was mostly uneventful, with some scrambling around at the end of the workday to get some last-minute copies made ahead of my absence on Monday and Tuesday. I'm headed back up to Westchester to spend the next 5 days with my mom to help her with her recovery.
I snapped off the cover picture on my commute through Grand Central Station. Instead of showing off the amazing architecture and artwork, I rather liked this shot above the escalator down to the dining concourse. On the platform, New York City musicians each get an hour to serenade passersby with their music. In this picture, we can see the changing of the guard as one musician packs up while the other gets ready for their next one-hour shift.
I made good time on my commute and was back up at my mom's place by 7.30pm in time for a nice Shabbat dinner. It was just the two of us, and my mom is still getting meals brought over by different friends of hers in the community. We enjoyed some matzo ball soup, arugula salad, and braised brisket. For dessert, some berries and shortbread. It was a very pleasant meal, and my mom is healing up well, thank goodness.
Now I need to come to grips with how quiet and simple life is up in the suburbs. There's not much to walk to and my mom isn't really walking too far just a week into her recovery from open-heart surgery. It is going to be a challenge to get steps in while I'm up here. So be it. Until next time...
