On Friday, we had our Black History month feast at school, a tasty hot catered meal served in our hallways and classrooms instead of downstairs in the cafeteria. Fried, BBQ, and stewed chicken, mac n cheese, rice n beans, cornbread, mashed potatoes. These kiddos were living it up.
My favorite side was back in the teachers lounge -- the stewed collard greens. Something about that smoky meat in there with some vinegar and spices really makes those greens sing to me. It is my favorite side dish!
Not to curse myself, but this makes 5 days straight over 10K as I continue to bust my butt in the classroom Monday through Friday. You'll even notice a tick up in steps leading into midnight.
For the first time in 2025, I'm finally going out to a club show to see What So Not play at my favorite venue in NYC -- Elsewhere. I'm so happy he will play a hybrid live set with drums and vocal up on the stage. Well, time to walk across the hood and get warmed up for a fun night on the dancefloor. Until next time...
