Cheers to a solid first half of the school year as we turn the page on the 2025 schedule this Friday! We had a bunch of fun activities for all the different homerooms including cookie decorating (in my HR :-( sprinkles), blooket quiz games, ornament making, and cup competitions. It is a fun 3 periods before our lunch/recess then winter showcase.
The students in art, dance, music creative arts have been working on projects, solos, and team routines for the holiday show. It was popping. The after school dance club brought 3 routines that looked polished with fierce music editing. I'm looking at you, trap remix of trans siberian orchestra!!
Then to end the show, it was time for the teacher dance and we crushed our routine after only 4 practices! There were 11 of us in the routine which featured 5 different solos over the 3+ minute show. It was a mashup of a dozen Christmas classics and modern edits of pop hits.
When it was all said and done, we had 12 different elements for 8+ bars and some cool moves like times jump over a teammate and a spinning circle up. Of course we all got to do a fun solo outro totally soul train style. I decided to throw it back to my old reliable and hit em with three thick bars of a moonwalk backward down the line before a tight spin into the inevitable 6-7 hand gesture, which absolutely sent the lower school while the upper school rolled their eyes a bit. Heh, jaded teenagers already.
I got a surprising amount of steps with the staging for the dance and running the routine after the noon hour. Combine that with my after school duty on Fridays out by the Burger King and subway stop where the students sometime congregate after dismissal. I'm there for those first 15 minutes to make sure everything goes smoothly.
I was bushed after a long last week of school. I walked over to our local water hole and there was only one table of teachers. I stayed for a minute then walked over to the taco spot where we had another tables of teacher fam hanging before the holiday break.
I finished by walking to get this bomb beef tallow Korean fried chicken thigh garlic + pickle sandwich and eating outside back at the 1st bar spot. The I said my farewells to the crew and trooped home for the goliday break. I promptly passed out at 8pm. Until next time...
