Happy New Year my actifit family! Only a few days late for my first post of 2026!
It was a banger New Years event in Phoenix, Arizona. We got a baller Airbnb with heated pool and putting green + grill & fire pit. 12 close friends smashed the 2-day NYE EDM festival Decadence. The event organizers, Relentless Beats, knocked it out of the park with the lineup and the production. GRiZ for the ball drop was a core memory with my rave fam!
New Year's Eve - Day 1 & Day 2
New Year's Day - Day 2 & Afters
Here we go with the uncounted steps. 40K in two days just a relic of my fitbit history. This is no way to build on my Top100 finish for 2025. But all the same, dancing my ass off to America's best modern bass artists like Level Up, Tape B, GRiZ, and Subtronic, was a fitting way to ring in the new year.
Never mind the two lazy days that followed as we enjoyed the tunes from the pair of DJs (friends) staying in the house with us. The sun finally came out for the last couple days as we floated around the pool and dancing around the living room.
After a flurry of appearances and get togethers with closest Moon Lvnding friends for bowling and a baby visit in Glendale, we finally flew back to New York City on Sunday. The travel was light, her dad came down to meet us for brunch and drove us to the airport. Since we had some extra luggage (forgotten DJ decks), we got a rideshare home. Minimal commuting steps on Sunday.
Monday was right back to school after a midnight flight arrival back to Brooklyn. Thankfully, the students don't arrive until Tuesday. Thank goodness we have a day to breathe, catch up with teammates, get papers in order, and mentally prepare for the slog through the cold winter months. At least the upcoming curriculum is fun, as we lay the building blocks for algebra with balanced equations and dependent relationships. Wish us luck!
Hopefully as I get back in the rhythm of school, I'll be back in the rhythm of 10K steps days. Too much prepping and not enough teaching meant not significant moving about the classroom to hit the 10K mark on Monday. We'll see how I hold up for the first day back with students on Tuesday. Until next time...
