Yesterday I went to the small Dutch town of Tiel, since it was the closest historical city I hadn't visited yet. The next closest one would be Kleve in Germany.
This is the Gothic House, the oldest residential building. There's a bar here now, but I couldn't go inside, because there's a lockdown again. The official guidance is that we should avoid unnecessary travel, while you can still go on holiday abroad... I decided I'd just walk around without entering even the essential shops that were open.
The former district court building was the nicest in my opinion. But the court was closed and moved to Arnhem.
Tiel's identity is closely linked to the fruit farms in the surrounding countryside in the Betuwe region. Flipje, the mascot of a former fruit processing factory, has become the symbol of the whole town. To be honest, it's a little cringy that this is the best they have to offer.
I finished my walk in two hours and went on to do my Christmas shopping closer to home.
