Yesterday I checked out Arroz Estúdios in Lisbon, the venue for the Monero Konferenco, shared some food with the young volunteers who were setting up the stage, and visited the Azulejo Museum, which is nearby.
The museum of tile art is in a former convent. It's a case of 'bring the museum to the art'.
There are also religious scenes, hunting scenes and a panorama of Lisbon before the devastating earthquake, in blue on white like Delftware for giants.
Here's a modest one in that style from the early 20th century, painted by Jorge Coleçao.
But as always, I don't like figurative art. I prefer the ancient techniques that were closer to mosaics, or modern experiments.
Anyway, I walked a lot because I discovered the distance from Arroz to the nearest train station was longer than it looked on the map. Next time I'll take the bus. I refuse to use ride-hailing services or those silly electric scooters you find everywhere.
I drove to the city by car. I'll have great dashcam footage from the Vasco da Gama bridge, which I can't extract right now. Then I realized I'd had a lack of sleep due to a railway crossing near my Airbnb room. I went to a pharmacy and found effective but painful earplugs: not the foam type, but the ones with multiple layers of plastic and air.
