As soon as you start your journey on the shores of Taltali in Barguna, you will see a small island that has risen from the river—Nidra Char. Just hearing the name will make you think that this is like nature's peaceful sleeping bed. The char rises at low tide, and merges with the river water at high tide—this game of fluctuations is the unique form of the char.
When we reached Taltali after a long journey from Dhaka, there was only the shade of palm trees and the smell of salty air around us. The locals said that going to Nidra Char by boat in the morning is the most beautiful experience. It really is—floating on the cloudy sky and the calm river is like entering another world.
As soon as we set foot on the char, the vast sandy beach, flocks of white goats, and the sight of fishermen pulling their nets in the distance—all together, it felt like time had stopped. In the evening, the sun sank into the river water, coloring the western sky, and the beauty of that moment is difficult to express in words.
At the end of the trip, it felt like Nidra Char was not just a place, but a piece of peaceful paradise where you can escape the hustle and bustle of busy life.
