Hey guys! Thanks for stopping by!
We got up this morning and headed to online church. This was our 5th Sunday via the Internet. Kind of disappointing for Palm Sunday, but the pandemic has changed life as we know it. 🙃
I spent the early part of the afternoon working on my old sewing machine. Back before I was a twinkle in my daddy’s eye, my mom had purchased at a yard sale, an old Singer treadle sewing machine with the cabinet for around $2.00 ( yes that’s correct-two dollars!). She gave it to me when we moved from Ohio to Colorado as I spent many an hour as a teenager sewing on this machine. I should have taken a pic but didn’t think about it. Anyway we’ve drug it across country and I still have it. Over the past 10 years, I had begun acquiring a new belt for the treadle, rubber wheel for the bobbin winder. I just never went any further with it. However now, I have a reason to need to sew, so I set to work seeing what needed tending to. It has sat for a long, long time. I changed the little rubber wheel out, lightly cleaned the top of the cabinet and then set to loading the bobbin in the shuttle and began. It was very stiff and the tension setting on the machine and the shuttle bobbin case were messed up. A little fine tuning and I got that straightened out. Unfortunately I only had one needle and it broke in the process of sewing test stitches, but I’ve ordered online just in case I can’t find them locally. It needs a better cleaning, but now I’m in business ( as soon as I get needles) to begin working on some masks for my son and his wife and the clinic as well. Maybe more; we’ll see how this goes.
That project got us a later start to our hike, but we did eventually set out. I failed to sync my FitBit and Actifit app, which was a bummer! Oh well......too much on my plate today, lol!
Actifit-Lamb wanted to stop and enjoy the view from a tree stump today. She says you should always ‘stop and smell the roses along the way’. In other words, take time to appreciate your surroundings and soak up what nature has provided for you to enjoy. A really good way to de-stress!
As we stopped up top at Towhee Ridge, this was the view out to the west....
Out in the distance is Birch Bay, North of Bellingham Bay.
We came home and I fixed a dinner of beef stew. It will soon be time for bed.
That’s gonna be it for now. Keep on steppin’! Please be safe and stay healthy and have a wonderful evening! Take care 😍😎💪👍🙌👣😷
