Greetings of the day,
Today was a very important day in our hospital, because the annual audit was organized today. Since morning there was a different energy and slight nervous atmosphere among the entire staff. An audit is not just an inspection, it is also an assessment of how we work, the strength of our systems and our responsibility towards patient safety.
The first thing we did as soon as we assumed morning duty was to organize our respective department files, records and necessary documents. The main focus of the audit team was on “Compliance” and “Non-Compliance”. That is, it was seen whether the processes of the hospital were running as per the set standards or not. From storage of medicines to patients' records, infection control protocols to safety guidelines, every little thing was examined in detail.
Today we had to go to different sections several times throughout the day. Sometimes the expiry date and storage conditions of medicines were checked in the pharmacy, and sometimes the process of hand hygiene and sanitization was observed in the ward. Medical waste management was also an important part of the audit, in which it was ensured whether biomedical waste was being put properly in different colored bins or not.
The best part amidst the hustle and bustle of the day was that our teamwork was clearly visible. Every staff member was working with complete honesty, understanding his responsibilities. Some minor “Non-Compliance” points also came to light during the audit, which were immediately noted and suggestions for improvement were made. This process gives us the opportunity to become better.
At the end of the day when the audit team shared their report we were extremely satisfied to know that we had achieved 98% compliance. This is not just a number, but the result of our hard work, discipline and commitment to our patients. Achieving such high levels of compliance rates is not easy, especially in a sensitive sector like healthcare.
Today was definitely a bit tiring physically, because I didn't realize how the time passed amidst the constant movement and responsibilities. But mentally this day was full of pride and satisfaction. The audit reminds us that healthcare is not just about treatment, but also about quality and safety.
Overall, today was a day full of learning, hard work and achievement. Achieving 98% compliance is a source of inspiration for our team, and we are committed to working harder towards 100% in the future.
