Greetings of the day,
Today was a very important day for our hospital, because CSSD audit was conducted in the morning. The audit took place under CAHO's ACE program, which aims to improve quality and infection control in hospitals. There was a different atmosphere of enthusiasm and responsibility in the entire department since morning. All staff members were present on time and were well organized in their respective work areas, so that there was no lapse of any kind during the audit.
The auditor first understood the functioning of our CSSD department. He inspected the decontamination area, packing section and sterilization unit. The efficiency of the machines, log books, temperature records and sterilization monitoring process were closely observed. Particular attention was paid to the cleanliness, packing and loading patterns of the instrument. It was good to see that our team had followed all the standards correctly. The auditor also gave some suggestions, through which further improvements can be made in future.
We had tea and breakfast with everyone in between the audits. Those times were a bit light and informal. We discussed various processes with the auditors and learned a lot from their experiences. Such opportunities are not only for evaluation, but also a medium to learn and move forward by understanding one's shortcomings. Teamwork and positive attitude made the whole environment collaborative.
The next phase of the audit examined inventory and documentation. Files of stock register, indent book, maintenance records and quality indicators were observed. The auditor ensured that all equipment was maintained on time and required materials were available in adequate quantities. The process was a bit elaborate, but because of our good preparation, everything went smoothly. We realized how important it is to maintain regular records, as these documents are the foundation of any quality system.
After the audit was over, the atmosphere became quite light. Everyone heaved a sigh of relief and felt a sense of satisfaction. After this we all went for a walk together. We went to a beautiful place nearby and spent some time amidst nature. This was a very relaxing time after a busy day. The day ended on a very positive note with conversations, laughter and sharing of experiences.
Today taught us that quality is not just a process, but a continuous effort. Departments like CSSD are the foundation of hospital safety, and audits like these make us realize our responsibilities. This experience was not only professionally enriching but also proved to strengthen team spirit and self-confidence.
