Had a suss of this bulk storage tank this morning. We've been draining it now for a few weeks. Ready to be cleaned out tomorrow.
Normally it is used for storing bulk Aluminium Sulfate ('Alum'), our primary coagulant.
Now however, it's being cleaned out in preparation for refilling with Aluminium Chlorohydrate ('ACH'), a new coagulant that we will be trialling in our treatment process in the coming months.
A bit of perspective on how large these tanks are. The one we're working on is in the centre of the image. They each hold over 100,000 tonnes of Aluminium Sulfate solution when full.
And a look inside... Pretty dark.
And a fire valve because, why not? I like the look of that embossed lettering for some reason. Good stuff!
See you!
