Started today with a drive over to a self-serve wrecking yard, to see if I could get a couple of replacement parts for my ute.
Went past this new solar farm on the way there. It's been built since the last time I came this way.
I wonder what the story is with this one...
I was quite lucky today, the two parts I needed were on the first vehicle I looked at and were really easy to remove. No battling in the heat. So good.
Exhaust pipe, after the muffler and a tailgate, shown above.
I then took this bounty and drove from the wrecking yard to a place where I could remove the old parts and install the new.
I had to unbolt the flange shown above, which you can see is badly corroded.
It didn't play nice. The damage was too great. I eventually had to cut the welded studs off and drill them out, replacing them with bolts, after trying practically every other option to undo the nuts.
It took hours.
The tailgate replacement was easy, thankfully. The old one had a broken handle.
Now it's actually usable!
Hooray!
Ready for next weekend...
