Today was the Dragon boat festival, one of the prominent and popular festivals in China. There are many stories about this festival began, and the most popular I will resume for you in this post.
Dragon Boat Festival is an adorable story and this to commemorate the death of the Chinese poet "Qu Yuan", who was a famous poet and writer; for some unknown reason, he decided to commit suicide and drowned himself in the Miluo River in Hunan Province in China, and the local villagers race their boats into the river and try to rescue him and to avoid the dead body were eaten by the fish they started to throw sticky rice(Zongzi- rice dumpling) into the water, and that's the reason in this festival people eat rice dumplings.
I like Zongzi or rice dumplings, consisting of glutinous rice, small yellow beans, pork meat, salty egg yolk and mushroom wrapped in bamboo leaves and steamed for a few hours. You need to order in advance from some shops or restaurants otherwise it is tough to find one near the festival.
The Dragon Boat Race consists of a large boat decorated with a Chinese Dragon on the front side, where paddlers must work hard to win the competition.
I had the chance to go to "Tuen Mun" district because it is near where I live, where only local villagers participated.
I have seen three teams, 10, 20 and 40 paddlers, and one drummer. The drummer plays the drummer to encourage the team.
Local and foreign companies will participate in this race competition; this year, the dragon boat competition is being held in Tsim Sha Tsui East Coast.
You can see this race competition in many places, for example, Stanley beach, Aberdeen, Saikung, Cheung Chau, Shatin and Tai Po, and Tuen Mun.
There was also a women's team boat, but I arrived late and couldn't see the completed race.
