July 1st was the 28th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; therefore, many activities were held to celebrate this special return day of the return to the motherland. There was a flag-raising ceremony at Golden Bauhinia in Wan Chai early at 8:00 am. I just had the chance to watch it on TV, as it is not allowed to go near it because this event was just for the authorities.
To celebrate this holiday, the local Government has announced that city residents and tourists can enjoy free boat rides from Shim Shai Tsui to Central and vice versa, and some restaurants offer a 30% discount for the day. People can also take free rides in the tramways from July 1 to 3rd, and museums and some parks are free to visit.
I have been around in some districts, and we couldn't avoid seeing the lovely flag decorations, even though there were a couple of showers during the day.
I took the following pictures in the China Hong Kong City buildings complex. This place has office towers, hotels, a ferry terminal and a shopping centre in the Kowloon District. Sometime later, I will publish a post about this place because it is an Instagram place, and as a hotspot, many tourists come here to take pictures.
For some reason, there was no fireworks display this year as in previous years. However, there might be a drone show next week.
