Today was supposed to be an easy day. It was 36°C outside so I was going to do a little yard work in the morning, then relax in the afternoon.
My wife had a similar idea, but she wanted to start with a hike. I love hiking, so I decided to delay the yardwork a little.
It was a great hike. About 5Km. Not too long, but it got the blood flowing and there were lots of critters to watch.
After we got home, it was time for lunch. Once that was over, it was time to get to the yard work. I basically stepped outside, and right into a pile of dog poop. (Note: German Shepherds don’t poop small). (Note 2: Part of the yardwork was going around, cleaning up the poop). Of course, I did not notice that both shoes were smothered until after I’d walked into the house to quickly run down the carpeted stairs to grab some tools.
So, I spot cleaned the carpet, changed shoes and began anew.
I’m building a lower deck on a gravel pad. In order to continue building the lower deck, I needed to take off the stairs. But, with three dogs, you don’t just remove stairs, you need to move them somewhere else so that they can reach the grass.
After moving the stairs, reattaching them to the deck, then shimming them so that they are almost level, it was almost 4 PM and I was just about to start working on the lower deck.
I managed to cut the two main beams before I realized my gravel pad was about 6” too short. I started digging and moving new gravel in.
That’s when I called it a day.
So, in the great deck building saga, I basically cut two boards today. But I got some good steps in. 😂😃
