The steps I am posting today are from yesterday.
Yesterday was the field day for the district where I live. This field day was the reason why I had been so busy with the PTA for the last month, and I had to coordinate the number of people in the group competitions that each district competes in because they didn't match. Finally, the day of the event! I felt relieved that I would be able to finish the event without any problems! I was halfway through the morning of the day with a refreshed feeling.
However, the temperature has dropped dramatically since Saturday, and cold rain was falling from early yesterday morning. I thought, "This means the event will probably be canceled, my work will be in vain, but oh well..." Then, just before 7:00 a.m., a notice went out on SNS that the event was going to be held. What? Are we really going to do it?
Some of the PTA officers were supposed to be at the venue to help with the operation, and I was one of them. It was raining, but as long as I had been informed that the event was to be held, I had no choice but to head to the venue with an umbrella. As I listened to the explanations of the district officers, the rain started to fall heavier and heavier, and I was so cold that I couldn't really take in the explanations of the district officers.
Still, there was no sign of cancellation, and soon the athletes were gathering in droves to register. I was too cold even though I was wearing Uniqlo's HEATTECH underwear for both top and bottom, but the children were doing their preparatory exercises in short sleeves under the cold rain. Seeing this, I reminded myself that some of the children had indeed practiced hard for today, and that it was better to go ahead with the event if I considered their feelings.
Still, cold is cold! Even the hokkai-iroko (warmer) that I received from the district officer soon became cold. The sweet potato snacks that were passed around as gifts were also cold, as was the tea I received for lunch, and the sushi lunch box, all of which were cold. However, I was able to watch both the individual competitions and the group competitions, which I coordinated the number of people for, go off without a hitch, and in the end I was glad that the event was held.
I went home to change clothes, ran to a convenience store to buy hot coffee, and moved around the venue, and before I knew it, my step count had exceeded 8,000 steps😉
