I saw fire 3 times in the Sundarbans area near the forest office called Idrobyar / opposite Dakshin Rajapur or Rajapur village. The first two times, I requested the forest officials to go to the fire site, but to no avail. Instead, they said that there was a fire there, and that various animals, including snakes, might be attacked by them due to the scattered running around. I was scared and did not go inside the forest.
The third time (the third of my visits) it was opposite Dakshin Rajapur village and it was burning until it reached the banks of the Bhola river, quite close to the village. (It should be noted that at that time the Bhola river had also dried up and turned into a char). Then I talked to a local person about how to see the fire site.
He advised, ‘Sir, don’t tell anyone anything, let’s go and see.’ Immediately, the two of us set off. After walking for a while, we crossed the flooded Bhola river and entered the forest (Sundarbans). It must be about a hundred meters after entering, and when I went inside, I saw the country's national forest burning! Somewhere smoke was rising, somewhere it was burning brightly, somewhere it had completely burned out, leaving patches of ash.
