The fossils of this tree are found 20 to 30 feet deep in the mountains in Matiranga Upazila of Khagrachari. Perhaps there are countless fossils of trees that can be found deeper if the soil is dug. The question is where did such fossils come from so deep in the mountains? The mountains are not recent wetlands that people have filled in and buried the trees underground while building settlements. The mountains of Bangladesh are extensions of the Himalayas that were formed shortly after the Himalayas were formed in the Pleistocene period. I think these trees carry the history of that time. I am trying to unravel their mysteries. For that, I am currently focusing on my studies.
