random survival stuff : July 5 2025

it was such a hot day, yes july 5th, the fated dooms day. i slept last night with a bit of precaution, it has been years where i felt my sleeping set up was a bit dangerous. ceramic plant pots are directly above my head; might as well be extra careful tonight. so i moved my head for about a foot. this is my excuse to finally upgrade my safety.

anyways, it should be obvious by now that nothing happened.

even with the hot weather, we still managed to have lunch out. the food place was close to home, we had a noodle dish. it was delicious as always, being my third time here it was still great. i guess no getting away from this restaurant for long a time.

but after the lunch battle, the housemate wanted some dessert. and he specifically remembered a cake shop in nippori. so we traversed the fabric town, saw lots of leather goods, even thought of buying some leather strings for a pendant i have.

if leather is too strong and bold for you, they also have laces. dressmakers and tailors will really love this place. accessory makers would also enjoy it here. each shop has different things to offer.

at the very end of this road was this statue, cubism inspired. cubism was the art style popularized by pablo picasso where curves are instead drawn as rigid angular straight lines. probably the statue was the guardian of fashion.

and i thought we were close, nopes. the sad thing, i can't remember if i have been in that shop despite the perpetual insistence of the housemate that we once visited the shop. it was as if a memory was erased.

we had to climb up and cross the train tracks it seemed.

and it was a very sunny day, we had our umbrellas up. was there ever a stigma in your country of men using the umbrella for sun shade? in the philippines, men are bullheadedly not using umbrellas despite the strong sun. and it is also the same here in japan. men would challenge the sun head on. they would rather have skin cancer it seems. does bringing umbrellas affect your masculinity?

that cake shop was really something, can't take my eyes off of the perfectly designed cakes for sale. shiny and glazed, this must be cake heaven. we bought 2 cake slices each, returned home and devoured.

this was a season limited rare cheesecake flamboise. that sounded so french! uninformed, flamboise just meant raspberry as searched. it was light and very delicious. loved that so much. the other slice of a different flavor will be consumed tomorrow. i guess this is my reward for staying alive this saturday.

i had a short nightwalk as well, and i also used an umbrella. it rained. i had to cut my walk shorter. the scenes were very dramatic though but i hated walking in the rain. i hurried back home.
