The weather has been warming, and everything is melting. Naturally, a very large body of water like an enormous lake will take time to melt. So I hurried out to enjoy walking on the lake one last time. Imagine my surprise when I found that not all of the ice houses had been hauled away.
There were even vehicles still out on the ice.
The walking was tough. There was a thick pile of slushy snow and melting ice layered over the surface of the lake. Trudging through took some effort!
I even saw some long cracks across the ice.
A beautiful lake home reflected the sunset.
Now and then I came across abandoned ice fishing holes.
It was a truly gorgeous evening, though, and a pleasant temperature for walking!
These last few pictures will give you a sense of how big this lake is. In a few months it will be full of boats!
