I have been keeping an eye on our bountiful bananas. As you can see, these three banana trees bear their own fruits and the fruits are maturing almost at the same time.
One of them is ready for harvest.
To get the bunch, we'll have to cut down the tree. This is actually their cycle: grow, produce flower and fruit, grow old and die. They only bear fruits once, so we just cut them down when we harvest.
Some of them grow very high before they start producing fruits. So cutting them down should be done properly and safely.
This bunch of bananas I harvested is really heavy, and could be weighing more or less 20 kilograms.
Hauling this one manually can be very laborious and exhausting. You must be prepared =)
Below is a new growing baby banana tree. They just sprout there adjacent to their mother trees. They seem to just grow from the roots of mature banana trees. These new sprouts can be dug up and relocated. That is how they are grown, bred and farmed.
