One of our favorite running events was today and my wife Tiffany and I were up this morning before the sun came and headed over to Baldwin Park here in Central Florida.
The event: 14th Annual Wounded Warfighter Lone Sailor 5K/10K Run Walk Roll
I ran the 5K and Tiffany power walked it as she is still dealing with some issues, but getting better.
Thankfully, I’m ahead in the recovery process and basically fully healed outside of the normal aches, pains and soreness that has always been part of the deal when you do high intensity interval training workouts for as many years as we have.
Although today the turnout was one of the lowest that we can remember it’s still an awesome event.
Based on the final tally as you can see below:
There were 304 participants, 254 finishers who averaged a pace of about 13 plus/mile with an average finish of about 43 minutes.
I finished 69th with a pace of about 10 plus/mile and finished under 33 minutes 1/2. Not great, but I’ll take it.
It took 29 minutes to run the 5K at the fitness studio, so went in expecting a better time.
There was a time my 5K finishes were between 26 to 28 minutes and that’s what I’m striving to return to.
For the bright news, I came in 46th for males and #1 between 55 to 60 males.
So, I kept up with the younger folks but dusted the folks my age or older 😅
It’s all love 🙏🏼
Funny thing today was that all along I though this was our fifth time participating in this event and it turns out we have done it six times and we cherish all six medals:
We have participated in many running and this one will continue to be one of our favorites and we got to add two more medals to our collection:
